Abbotshill Country House
Abbotshill House

So, let Abbotshill be your gateway to the scenery, the culture, the heritage and the diverse range of tourist attractions and leisure pursuits which this historic and beautiful land of Scotland has to offer.

Alternatively, simply rest, refresh, and stay in the quiet comfort of your very own home from home, reclining on the terrace in summer, cold beer in hand, as the barbecue sizzles, or relaxing by the wood burner in winter, enjoying a glass (or two) of usquebaugh (the water of life), better known the world over as Scotch, the spirit of Scotland.

Newburgh is a thriving, welcoming and friendly village, of which the residents are justifiably proud, where age old tradition and the sense of community still prevail.

Believed to have been in existence for some 1,300 years, this ancient Royal Burgh received it’s Charter from Alexander III in 1266, at which time it was known as the New Burgh, beside the Abbey of Lindores.

When built in 1843, Abbotshill was so named, since Monks’ Well, from which fresh water for the Abbey was drawn centuries before, is a mere 50 yards distant, if now inaccessible.

The self-contained west wing of an early 19th century country house on the Fife/Perthshire border, where magnificent views over the river Tay, to the Carse of Gowrie and the Sidlaw Hills beyond, complement a traditionally elegant, spacious and comprehensively equipped interior, to establish Abbotshill as a benchmark for 4 Star, self-catering accommodation in Scotland. It may be a large house, with 4-bedrooms, yet the atmosphere within is one of quintessential holiday cottage intimacy and privacy.

Country Holidays Gold Award 2005

In a secluded and tranquil hillside location, on the fringe of Newburgh village, Abbotshill nevertheless enjoys easy and convenient access to the motorway, rail, bus and air networks, and provides a central base from which to explore the kaleidoscopes of sights, sounds, people and places which are so unique to Scotland.
